Indonesia Must Anticipate Looming Global Recession: Lawmaker

Jakarta: People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Deputy Speaker Lestari Moerdijat said that Indonesia must be able to anticipate the looming global recession.
"Both Economic observers and business circles predict that there will be a global recession in 2020 which will eventually reach Asia," she said at the Parliamentary Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta on Thursday, October 31, 2019.
The NasDem politician stressed that Indonesia cannot struggle constantly with domestic political problems. She assessed that next year will be a critical time for the world economy.

"This is a challenge for us. If we don't prepare ourselves, what do we do?" she said.
According to Lestari, this is also the reason NasDem Party continues to improve political partnerships. For example, Nasdem Party's recent meeting with the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) leaders.
"Just look at economic indicators, our markets are good. Indonesia is a safe and comfortable place. This is what we want to build," she said.
