Jakarta: Trade Ministry national export development dierector general Arlinda believes that as many as 1,250 exhibitors will participate in the Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2019.
"This year's target is 1,250 exhibitors," the Trade Ministry official told the press on Monday.
TEI is the largest trade show in the country. It is designed to boost export product growth and export market expansion.
The 34th TEI will take place at Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in BSD City, Tangerang, Banten on October 16-20. It will showcase numerous carefully-categorized products, encompassing manufacturing products, strategic industry products, creative products, furniture and craft products, food and beverage products as well as Lifestyle Products.
The theme of this year's event is 'Moving Forward to Serve The World'. It is expected to promote quality products made in Indonesia for the global market
This year's event will invite international buyers from traditional and non-traditional export markets. It will present a series of paralel activities such as Trade, Tourism and Investment Forum, Business Matching, Business Counseling, Regional Discussion, Overseas and Local Trade Mission, Export Start-Up Competition and Talk Show.
Last year's event recorded US$8.49 billion worth of transaction. It attracted as many as 30 thousand visitors from 132 countries.
"We want to tap new export markets such as Central Asia, Africa, Latin America and East Europe. We want to have a better exhibition this year," the Trade Ministry official said.
Amid rising global economic uncertainty, Indonesia recorded a trade deficit of US$8.57 billion in 2018. It was the highest ever recorded by the agency.
According to the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the country's exports reached US$180.06 billion in 2018. The number increased by 6.65 percent compared to 2017.
In the meantime, the country's non-oil and gas exports reached US$162.65 billion last year. The number increased by 6.25 percent compared to the previous year.
