Attorney General Believes in Other Parties Involvement in Jiwasraya Case

Jakarta: The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) agrees that other parties are involved in the alleged corruption of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya (Persero). Investigators are still looking for additional evidence to ensnare these parties.
"It is still under investigation," said Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) at Kejagung Hari Setiyono to, Jakarta on Friday, January 17, 2020.
Hari answered diplomatically when asked about the involvement of state-owned enterprises (BUMN) or the private sector in the corruption scandal at the state-owned company. He asked all parties to be patient and to give time for investigators to work.

"(Involvement of private or state-owned companies) there is a possibility that can or may not be followed by the development of the investigation," he stated.
According to Hari, investigators still need the testimony of a number of witnesses to make this case clear. This includes examining the role of other parties in cases that have ensnared the five suspects.
"We will explore the testimonies of the witnesses and later we will examine other witnesses," Hari said.
The Attorney General has named five suspects in the alleged corruption case of PT Jiwasraya. All five were charged based on sufficient evidence.
Those suspected are the former Managing Director of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya, Hendrisman Rahim; former Head of Investment and Finance Division of PT Jiwasraya, Syahmirwan; and former Finance Director of PT Asuransi Jiwasraya; Hary Prasetyo. President Commissioner of PT Trada Alam Minera Tbk (TRAM), Heru Hidayat; and Commissioner of PT Hanson International Tbk Benny Tjokrosaputro.
The five suspects are subject to Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 paragraph (1) letter b of Law Number 31 of 1999 Eradication of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st Criminal Code and Article 3 of the Corruption Eradication Act in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.
