Jakarta: The Jakarta Provincial administration has decided that Jakarta's provincial minimum wage (UMP) will reach Rp4,276,349 in 2020.
It is 8.51 percent higher from the 2019 UMP of IDR3,940,000
"An increase of Rp335,776," Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan told a press conference at the City Hall Building in Central Jakarta on Friday, November 1, 2019.
Anies ensured that the UMP increase was in accordance with provisions contained in the law. Based on the law, the regional head must also announce the amount of the UMP on November 1.
According to Anies, Jakarta workers whose salary is equal to the UMP or only 10 percent higher than the UMP will get welfare facilities. For example, those workers can enjoy free public transportation via Jaklingko.
"(They will also get) cheaper shopping facilities and KJP plus cards for their children who attend school," he said.
The Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration’s regulation states that UMP throughout Indonesia would be increased by around 8.5 percent.
