Jakarta: President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has ordered his cabinet to implement measures that can held bolster the country's economic growth in the fourth quarter of 2020.
"It is the last quarter of the year," said President Jokowi during a cabinet meeting here on Monday.
According to the President, Indonesia's economic performance still a lot better than most countries. Nevertheless, the country needs to immediately revive its economic activities.
Previously, Indonesian economy contracted by 5.32 percent in the second quarter of 2020. Moreover, it is expected to contract by around three percent in the third quarter of 2020.
"We have to strengthen demand to increase consumption," he stated.
Last month, The IHS Markit Indonesia Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index™ (PMI™) edged up from 47.2 in September to 47.8.
By remaining below the 50.0 no-change level, however, the latest reading marked a further deterioration in the health of the sector.
