Jakarta: Bank Indonesia (BI) reported that inflation rate reached 0.13 percent month-to-month until the fourth week of March 2020.
On a calendar year basis, inflation rate was recorded at 0.80 percent year-to-date (ytd). On an annual basis, inflation rate was recorded at 3.00 percent year-on-year.
The main contributors to the inflation in the reporting period were, among others, gold jewelry (0.06 percent), oranges (0.04 percent), chicken eggs (0.03 percent), sugar (0.03 percent and shallots (0.02 percent).
"Commodities which experienced a price hike compared to the previous week were, among others, gold jewelry, sugar, oranges and shallots," the central bank said in a press release on Friday, March 27, 2020.
Consumer price index (CPI) inflation stood at 0.28 percent (mtm) in February 2020. It was down from 0.39 percent (mtm) one month earlier.
According to the central bank, lower headline inflation stemmed from decreasing core inflation, administered prices deflation and slower inflation of volatile foods.
Annually, therefore, low CPI inflation was recorded at 2.98 percent (yoy) in the reporting period. It was up slightly from 2.68% percent (yoy) in January 2020.
