Jakarta: Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto has said that the as many as 40 derivates of Job Creation Law will be completed in one month.
"According to the instruction of the president, 35 government regulations and five presidential regulations must be completed in one month," Airlangga said during a press conference here on Wednesday.
"Athough the law allows us to complete the derivatives in three months, one month is the president's target," the minister explained.
On Monday, the House of Representative passed the Bill on Job Creation into law. Except for the Democratic Party and the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS), all parties agreed to pass the controversial bill.
The law consists of 15 chapters and 174 articles. It covers 11 clusters, namely simplification of licensing procedures, investment requirements, manpower, ease in obtaining permits for empowerment and protection of MSMEs, ease of doing business, research support and innovation, government administration, imposition of sanctions, land procurement, investment and government projects, and economic zones.
However, the newly passed bill is strongly opposed by labor unions and activists. According to them, it will harm the livelihoods of many workers in the country.
