Jakarta: Special Staff of the Minister of BUMN in the Field of Public Communication Arya Sinulingga admitted that former Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Arcandra Tahar is a candidate for being a high-ranking official at PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (PGN) Tbk. However, Arya did not know the exact position that Arcandra will fulfil.
"I do not know if he will be a director or commissioner," said Arya at the office of the Ministry of SOEs, Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Central Jakarta on Friday, December 13, 2019.
Arya asserted that the placement of positions in the board of directors of PGN was decided by the Final Assessment Team (TPA) chaired by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo. “It depends on the TPA," he explained.
Arya added that the Ministry of SOEs is currently gathering the names of former ministers or deputy ministers to occupy positions in several state-owned companies. “We hope that former ministers or deputy ministers would fill out positions in various SOEs” he explained
Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir reportedly plans to appoint former Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Rudiantara as managing director of PT PLN (Persero). Currently, the position of PLN's acting president director is filled by Sripeni Inten Cahyani.
In addition to Rudiantara, Erick has also appointed former Finance Minister Chatib Basri as deputy chief commissioner of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk. Chatib is expected to be able to improve the performance of Bank Mandiri and make it a respected firm in Southeast Asia.
