Jakarta: The search for president director of PT PLN (Persero) has finally ended. Former Bank Mandiri president director Zulkifli Zaini has been appointed as president director of PT PLN (Persero), Indonesia’s state electricity company.
PLN's General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) will approve the composition of the new board of commissioners and directors on Monday afternoon. It will include Zulkifli Zaini as president director and Amien Sunaryadi as president commissioner.
So far, PLN is still led by acting president director Sripeni Inten Cahyani.
"Both Pak Amien and Pak Zulkifli have a very good track records, ready to work and have good morality. Same as the president director and chief commissioner of other SOEs," SOE Minister Erick Thohir said in his written statement, in Jakarta on Monday, December 23, 2019.
According to Erick, PLN would face difficult challenges starting from realizing the electrification ratio of 100 in Indonesia to creating efficient electricity tariffs for both the public and industries. In addition, these PLN leaders were also tasked with increasing the use of renewable energy as a source of electricity.
One that must be accomplished by PLN is the fulfillment of environmentally friendly electricity in the New Capital City.
"PLN will also form a healthy business ecosystem with the private sector and region-owned businesses in producing electricity. PLN will focus on distribution," said Erick.
Amien Sunaryadi was the deputy chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the 2003-2007 period. Meanwhile, Zulkifli Zaini is currently an Independent Commissioner of BNI since March 2015.
